Carroll & Meynell Transformers Ltd have been designing and manufacturing state of the art transformers from our base in Teesside for over 50 years. We have been supplying portable units and site boxes to UK industries throughout this period. However, the main thrust of the business in the most recent period has been customised, air-cooled transformers for large industrial applications.

The main markets we have served are:

• Oil & Gas: to power Remote Operating Vehicles (ROV) for sub-sea applications

• Renewable Energy – Offshore Wind: to power Trenching Machines to lay the cables connecting the Wind Turbines

• Marine: to provide on-board power systems for the boats

• Nuclear: to provide power in high specification environments which require flexibility of input and output electrical characteristics

• Mining: to provide power in difficult, underground environments where flexibility of electrical parameters are essential

Our range of transformers can vary from as low as 5KVA right through to 2MVA with weights ranging up to 7 tonnes. Our technical skills enable us to customise the unit to a specific application factoring in power requirements, multiple input and output taps, size restrictions and low loss ESG applications. The links between our technical design, applications engineering, and factory production capacity and skills puts us in a strong position to support the growth developing    in our core markets above.
