What we’ve been up to at The Wind Academy!

The last few months has seen a great period of growth for The Wind Academy with some key milestones being achieved across all units of the business.
Perhaps the biggest achievement recently has been the opening of our Blyth Campus HQ training centre, which has strengthened our existing presence on the Port of Blyth as a valued member of the ecosystem there.
Our new centre as pictured below is the latest of our developments and has allowed us to increase our training capacity, variety of provision and office space for our growing team of staff (watch this space for an upcoming open day!)
The design of the new training centre was completed in conjunction with renowned North-East artist Mul, who's distinctive style and 'mascot' has been showcased across our Blyth Campus HQ.
Blyth Campus HQ has allowed us to expand our number of courses to include GWO Advanced Rescue Training, GWO Basic Technical Training + Installation module, confined space training and more, building on our regular provision of accredited safety and technical training we provide at The Wind Academy.
Success has not just been limited to infrastructure development, with many exciting milestones and key events also achieved in our training provision. Notable highlights include the honour of becoming one of a select few providers to receive GWO IQT Provider status, acting as a mark of quality and allowing The Wind Academy to train GWO Instructors through IQT and IQT(X) pathways.
Additionally, we also became an ECITB approved training provider, allowing us to further expand our training capabilities and offer exciting employment-focused programmes such as 'Military to Wind' providing further capabilities of our offerings to the Service Leaver community. We are excited to build on our partnership with ECITB!
July saw us welcome key offshore wind construction company Jan de Nul to our technical training centre, where we delivered our City & Guilds Assured - Subsea Cable Testing & Fault Location course to a group of their technicians. We were delighted to deliver training for a company who is a major part of the global supply chain. This reinforces our commitment to developing and delivering technical training that is industry-leading and designed to meet client requirements.
Finally, we have also received funding from Skills Development Scotland to support the transition of Oil and Gas Workers into the Offshore Wind Sector, this is accessible for those based in Scotland. This is another positive step forward in supporting the transition to clean energy, by supporting re-training from industries using transferable skills.
2026 has also saw the rapid growth of our Recruitment arm, TWA Global, which now boasts an impressive team of technicians mobilising on project world-wide. Technicians have been placed into a variety of roles across the Termination & Testing sphere. TWA Global has worked together with The Wind Academy to suitably train these technicians ensuring competence.
