RWE completes Enoch Hill wind farm

RWE has completed construction of the 70MW Enoch Hill onshore wind farm near New Cumnock in East Ayrshire, Scotland.

RWE said turbine commissioning was completed in May after the project generated first electricity in April 2026.

The company added that Enoch Hill is its second Scottish onshore wind farm completed in 2026, following the 36MW Camster II project in Caithness in April.

Together, the projects have added 106MW of new generation capacity to RWE’s operational portfolio in Scotland.

Enoch Hill was consented in September 2019 and construction started in June 2023.

The project uses a mix of Nordex N133/4.8 and N117/3600 Delta4000 turbines and is expected to generate enough electricity to power around 68,000 typical UK homes.

RWE and principal contractors Farrans and Nordex used local suppliers during construction, with over 38% of Farrans’ construction spend directed to suppliers within 20 miles of the site and a further 23% going to suppliers within 50 miles.

A £10.5m community fund has also been established, focusing exclusively on New Cumnock during its first five years.
