SRC: New Health Check to Boost Safety and Compliance in Lifting Operations

SRC has launched a new service designed to help organisations take a proactive approach to the safety, compliance and effectiveness of their lifting operations.

The specialist consultancy, known for its work across health and safety, cost and project management and lifting compliance services, has launched its Lifting Operations Health Check to meet growing demand for expert guidance in high-risk industries such as construction, civil engineering, manufacturing and renewables.

SRC’s health check offers companies a second opinion on their lifting practices, led by one of the sector’s most respected figures. Danny Travis, director and co-founder of SRC:LCS, brings more than 25 years’ experience managing complex lifting operations both onshore and offshore, and has helped shape national and international safety standards. His track record includes contributions to the British Standards Institution (BSI), Lifting Equipment Engineers Association (LEEA), International Marine Contractors Association (IMCA), and renewable sector safety bodies SafetyOn and the G+ Global Offshore Wind Health & Safety Organisation.

SRC’s new offer aims to give clients reassurance that their lifting policies, procedures and equipment meet legal and best practice standards, whilst also identifying opportunities to enhance productivity and reduce operational costs. The service includes a comprehensive evaluation of lifting documentation such as lift plans and risk assessments, a review of contractor management and procurement processes and an inspection of lifting equipment to ensure it is fit-for-purpose. The findings are summarised in a detailed report, highlighting compliance gaps and offering practical, actionable recommendations.

Danny believes the new service will be vital for companies looking to reduce risk in an increasingly regulated environment. “Many organisations are unaware of critical gaps in their management systems until a lifting operations incident occurs," he said. "Our independent health check provides clients with peace of mind and a clear pathway to safer, more efficient lifting operations; identifying opportunities for improvements and reducing the risk of future incidents."

The launch of the Lifting Operations Health Check follows a period of strong growth for SRC. Founded in 2010, the consultancy is particularly well known for its work on major renewable energy projects, including RWE’s Sofia Offshore Wind Farm.

Employing over 30 staff and operating from four UK offices, SRC has built a reputation for providing practical, hands-on support and transferring best practice between sectors. The company holds all recognised ISO standards and maintains a high level of insurance cover, ensuring it meets the compliance needs of both major corporates and smaller organisations.

Graham Tyerman, managing director, said the company's strength lies in the quality of its people and its practical approach: “Clients trust us because we’re not just ticking boxes, we’re helping them deliver projects safely, on time and within budget. The launch of our Lifting Operations Health Check is another way we’re giving organisations access to the expertise they need, exactly when they need it."
