SMD CELEBRATES TWO NEW SERVICE LEVEL AGREEMENTS
Posted on 15 October 2024

Subsea technology and engineering company, SMD, has this month announced the signing of two new service level agreements (SLAs), the latest in a series of bespoke partnerships with clients.
Both SEAJET, an OEG Renewables company, and Global Marine have entered into two-year agreements with SMD, with each SLA tailored to fulfil the companies’ differing servicing requirements.
Liam Forbes, Services Director at SMD, said: “As the designers and engineers of industry-leading technology, we understand our vehicles and technology better than anyone - so who better to manage servicing requirements and resolve complex technical issues than us?
“Through our SLAs, we develop a deeper understanding of client’s operations and can pre-empt their needs and efficiently meet their requirements.
“This collaborative model facilitates a transition from reactivity to proactivity, meaning we can provide our clients with the right equipment, in the right place, at the right time. And when the unexpected happens, we can quickly adapt to ensure minimal impact.”
To facilitate the growing demand for the aftercare service, SMD invested in a new distribution hub earlier this year that is dedicated to the efficient delivery of spare parts.
Mr Forbes continues: “While each SLA is entirely unique, they all stem from the same collection of core services, including technical expertise, out-of-hours support, storage and spare parts. Each agreement is carefully tailored to add genuine value to ensure we provide our clients with the parts and services they need to complete their full operational capability.”
SEAJET is the world’s only all-electric controlled flow excavation (E-CFE) service provider. Speaking on its new agreement with SMD, Daniel Cunny, Head of Business Development & Commercial, said: “As a market-leading company, we pride ourselves on delivering efficient, reliable operations to our clients. We are therefore delighted to take our partnership with SMD to the next level through an SLA for our new fleet of E-CFE’S.
“SMD has truly embedded itself within our business; forming part of our operations team, its engineers accompany us on missions to ensure our equipment is mobilised, maintained and redressed for each new project. This unique partnership truly embodies our shared commitment to excellence and we look forward to developing it further.”
Global Marine provides subsea fibre optic cable installation, maintenance and repair engineering services to companies worldwide. Modular Equipment Manager, Mick Beezer, commented: “It’s a pleasure to sign this agreement with SMD for the maintenance of our cable laying and repair fleet.
“With a 170-year legacy for delivering exceptional results, we are committed to providing a turnkey service, and feel confident that our agreement with SMD will do much to enhance this offering.”
“Our agreement includes the supply of parts and spares from a fixed price list, as well as round-the-clock technical and serving support.
