Middlesbrough College: Port Operative Skills Bootcamp

I’d like to introduce our Port Operative Skills Bootcamp, designed specifically for organisations operating in the port and maritime industries.

The programme upskills your existing workforce through a flexible, modular structure that fits around operations while delivering real improvements in safety culture, compliance, and capability.

Bootcamp Overview (70 Guided Learning Hours)

Delivered via weekly training days, allowing learners to immediately apply knowledge in the workplace. Cohorts can be scheduled to align with shift patterns and operational demands.

Core Accredited Training

  • IOSH Working Safely (1 day | 7 GLH)
  • Mental Health First Aid (2 days | 14 GLH)
  • Sustainability & Green Environment (4 days | 28 GLH)
  • Hand and Power Tools Safety (2 days | 14 GLH)
Bespoke Port & Maritime Safety Content

Tailored sessions ensure relevance to your environment and include:

  • Safety culture and leadership
  • Reporting processes and procedures
  • Maintenance and inspection of equipment
  • Pedestrian and vehicle interaction
  • Containment methods and environmental protection
  • Human factors and behavioural safety management
  • Continuous improvement
  • Safety audits, observations, and conversations
  • Disaster and emergency planning

Content can be fully aligned to your site, equipment, and operating procedures.

Funding & Employer Contribution

Thanks to government funding:

  • 10% contribution: £163.20 per employee
  • 30% contribution (larger organisations): £489.60 per employee
