Masfix, the North East’s trusted name in fasteners and industrial supplies, has officially opened a new 5,000 sq ft facility at Aycliffe Business Park—marking a major step forward in the company’s continued growth.
Backed by a £150,000 investment, the expansion adds a second site to Masfix’s operation, with over £1 million in combined stock now available to customers across the region. The Aycliffe base is stocked daily from Masfix’s Newburn HQ, ensuring fast, reliable access to more than 30,000 products—including tools, fixings, PPE, and engineered parts.
“This move helps us respond more quickly to the businesses we already serve in Aycliffe and gives us room to build new relationships,” said Ian Mordue, director and co-owner. “It’s a strategic and personal milestone for our team.”
Three new full-time positions have been created, and the site will be overseen by local account manager Rebecca Head, who brings valuable knowledge of the area’s business community.
Masfix’s services go beyond stock supply. Their innovative vendor-managed inventory system installs vending machines directly into client premises—automatically restocking based on real-time usage to cut downtime and simplify procurement.
“Customers get what they need, when they need it—without leaving site,” added sales director Richard Ward. “It’s a smarter, faster way to manage inventory.”
Founded in 1982 by George Mordue and Ron Slater, Masfix remains a proud family business. For co-director Mark Slater, the Aycliffe opening is a meaningful next step in a journey that began over 40 years ago.
“We started small, with nothing but ambition. Now, we’re part of one of the region’s busiest business parks—fully stocked and ready to grow,” he said. “Our fathers built the foundation. We’re building the future.”
Masfix is now firmly rooted in one of the North East’s most vibrant business parks—and ready to support companies across County Durham with expert service, fast delivery, and a personal approach.
