Houlder - Offshore Wind Innovation
Posted on 26 April 2019

Houlder has been working with an increasing number of organisations with feasibility and R&D projects in the offshore wind sector. We are working with SENSEwind, who have partnered with Innovate UK and others, to reduce the need for large cranes or jack up crane vessels during installation and for maintenance with a modular solution.
We have also been part of the Windfarm Autonomous Ship Project (WASP) to develop a timeline for the phased introduction of autonomous vessels to support windfarm operations. Houlder led a naval architecture, design and engineering team in developing a crewless cargo delivery and maintenance vessel concept (pictured).
Houlder's Akhil Nair and Arun Pilai presented a paper on the latter at the Royal Institution of Naval Architects (RINA) conference, Design & Operation of Wind Farm Support Vessels earlier in the year.
