Eastgate Engineering: Eastgate in Bloom
Posted on 09 March 2026
Eastgate Engineering is proud to announce that its inaugural Eastgate in Bloom event, held on Friday, 6 March at Bloom Show Hall & Eaterie, raised just under £2,000 for Teesside Hospice. The women‑only gathering brought together over 60 women from across the engineering, energy, manufacturing, and local business communities to mark International Women’s Week with connection, conversation, and purpose.
Although CEO David Brennan did not attend (to honour the women‑only space), his message was read by event organiser and Eastgate Engineering Marketing Executive, Abbie King. Brennan’s words underscored the values behind the event and the company’s ongoing commitment to women’s health and representation:
“51% of our population is women, but 100% of our population is born to women.”
“It certainly turned out to be very well attended, and this will be a great annual event to give women the space to be represented during International Women's Week while also making a positive impact locally where it really matters.”
The afternoon combined fundraising with a space for reflection and encouragement. Delegates heard practical insights on confidence and empowerment from speakers Rebecca Dale (Soul with Rebecca) and Ruth Smith (The Feel Amazing Therapist), and many took part in a charity raffle and the Bloom Salon experiences with all proceeds benefiting Teesside Hospice.
Abbie King, who led the event, said:
“Eastgate in Bloom was created with one hope in mind: that every woman who walked through those doors felt recognised, valued, and reminded of the strength and brilliance she already carries. Seeing the community rally to raise nearly £2,000 for Teesside Hospice made the day even more meaningful.”
The event was further enhanced by the support of several female‑owned local suppliers, whose contributions added a uniqueness to the day. Ella Murphy (Layered by Ell) provided beautifully crafted cakes and cupcakes, while Samantha Blakemore (The Posy Patch) created elegant floral arrangements and bouquets that transformed the venue. Roxana Malinci (Mariposa Beauty) delivered treatments throughout the lunch, offering gel manicures and hand massages for attendees. In addition to these key suppliers, 20 female‑led businesses from across the region generously offered raffle donations, demonstrating strong community backing for both the event and Teesside Hospice. Contributors included Born to Dance Studio, Rise Reformer Pilates, The Bod Squad Middlesbrough, Nola Wellness, Sacred Serenity, Lumora Healing, Manna Organic, Calm Mind Collective, and Baked by Beth, among others. Their involvement played a significant role in the success of Eastgate in Bloom and the funds raised for a vital local cause.
Following the success of the initial event, both in attendance and funds raised, Eastgate in Bloom is due to return next year as an annual event, with expanded capacity and an even broader programme designed to uplift women across the region.
