Dale Power Solutions Celebrates 90 Years with Grand Summer Ball at Scarborough Spa

Dale Power Solutions, a leader in power resilience for 90 years, recently commemorated its 90th anniversary with a spectacular Summer Ball at the historic Scarborough Spa. The gala brought together employees, business partners, and key customers for a night dedicated to celebrating the company’s heritage, achievements, and forward-looking vision.

The evening featured a keynote address from CEO Gavin Hepburn, who reflected on Dale’s journey from its beginnings in 1935, when Leonard Dale set up as an electrical engineer in nearby Lebberston, to becoming a trusted UK-based provider of generator systems, uninterruptible power supplies (UPS), and battery energy storage systems (BESS). Highlights included a staff-nominated awards ceremony recognising excellence and collaboration across departments. Guests enjoyed food, live music, and dancing, with a standout performance by local musician Ross McWhirter, all set against the stunning coastal backdrop and elegant architecture of the Spa.

Founded in Scarborough and still headquartered there, Dale Power Solutions has long been a part of the town’s industrial identity. In its earlier decades the company focused on generators before branching into UPS solutions with the acquisition of Erskine in 1968. Since being awarded multiple Queen’s Awards for Industry, Export and Enterprise, the company has expanded through strategic acquisitions and service excellence.

The formation of the Battery Storage & Renewables division in 2023 marked a new chapter in Dale’s evolution, underscored by a major contract awarded in January 2025 to deliver a 4 MWh behind‑the‑meter BESS project for a leading UK client. This solution, integrating solar PV with the BYD MC Cube, helps clients maximise renewable self-consumption, overcome grid export constraints, and meet net zero targets.

Dale’s strategic acquisition of Calibre Power Electronics in early 2025 has further tailored its capabilities, particularly in offshore oil & gas UPS service and maintenance, reinforcing its service footprint and technical reach. These developments showcase how Dale blends rich heritage with innovative growth to remain resilient and relevant.
