Celebrations around the world to mark Alleima as a standalone company

Alleima, formerly Sandvik Materials Technology (SMT), was listed for trading on Nasdaq Stockholm, August 31, 2022. At the same time the company changed its name from SMT to Alleima. To highlight the historic event, close to 6 000 employees participated in celebrations and cake parties all over the world.

Alleima, with headquarters in Sandviken, Sweden, is a global manufacturer of high value-added products in advanced stainless steels, special alloys as well as solutions for industrial heating.  On April 27, 2022, at the Annual General Meeting of Sandvik AB, Sandvik shareholders made the historic decision to distribute and list SMT on the Nasdaq Stockholm stock exchange. It was also decided that the new company name would be Alleima, a combination of the words ”alloy” and ”material”, two core strengths of the company’s business.

At the date of listing on August 31st, the company also changed its name and brand from Sandvik Materials Technology to Alleima. Nearly 6,000 employees participated in celebrations around the world to celebrate this historic event.

“We are a 160-year-old company with a fantastic history. Today Alleima is a world-leader in its fields and a strong performer in its industry. As a standalone company, Alleima will have the right prerequisites to realize its full potential and the best conditions for growth and value creation. We wanted to celebrate this historic event, and therefore celebration activities were planned for employees around the world, says Göran Björkman, CEO and President of Alleima.

All employees at Alleima were able to watch the live broadcast as Göran Björkman, President and CEO at Alleima, rang the bell on Nasdaq Stockholm. Employees were also invited to a local cake celebration in each location. Alleima has employees in nearly 30 countries. An internal contest for “best brand activation” was initiated to boost internal engagement around the brand change.  After weeks of receiving photos and videos for the best brand activation, five winners were selected. They were Alleima employees, from China, India, Sweden, US, and Switzerland. Over 260 videos and photos were sent in for the contest.

“I am truly proud, impressed, and happy about the fantastic engagement amongst our employees. This is an important start for future Alleima,” says Elja Nordlöf, Executive Vice President and Head of Communications.
