The business have said that they hope the donation will be used to develop the pupils’ science, technology, engineering and mathematics skills and will create a pipeline of talented future recruits for the region.
The Engineering Firm of the Year Award rewards the NEPIC member company that clearly showcases business excellence from across the consultancy and engineering sector, demonstrating innovative solutions to engineering problems and ‘best-in-class’ project delivery.
Jane Atkinson, Engineering and Automation Executive Director at Bilfinger UK said: “We strive to have a positive social, environmental and economic impact in all the communities we operate in - it’s fantastic to be recognised by our peers in the North East.
This award reflects the hard work that all our colleagues put in and is testament to their efforts in supporting young talent in the region by giving them the opportunity to gain hands-on experience.
As with many businesses in the sector, the pandemic has presented Bilfinger with significant and unprecedented challenges. We recognised the impact it may be having on our colleagues’ mental health and have been collaborating with the Mates in Mind charity to make sure that all of our colleagues have access to the support they may need.”
