Asset55 secures further 3-year global deal with BP

Leading flange management and construction solutions technology house, asset55, has secured a further 3-year contract term to provide global flange management assurance to BP.

Having originally delivered flange management software and services on the HUC phase of the Glen Lyon FPSO in the North Sea through 2015, shortly after BP commissioned asset55 to carry out analysis of their Flanged Joint Assembly ETP, GP42-31. Subsequently, asset55 delivered a BP specific version of their flange management software, iQ, that would allow BP users to carry out bolt-load calculations from first principles, in line with the methodology newly detailed in GP42-31.

Global roll out of the new iQ BP module begun early in 2018 and included structured webinar training for all new users. By the close of 2020, 1000’s of BP employees and contractors have been trained and are using iQ as BP’s global, single source of truth for bolt-load calculations.

Mark Davison, Divisional Director (Operations) at asset55, comments:

“We’re delighted that BP have further validated their trust in our software and engineering team by renewing this contract out to 2024. Our Technical Authority, Richard McNeilly, and his engineering team have supported BP across number of years, and they continue to drive innovation and value into a very important client.”

iQ is now deployed globally across all operating assets, with training, engineering support and technical assurance, being delivered by the asset55 Operations Division. In addition to the webinar user-training, asset55 have created a BP version of iQ’s on-line self-help guide, iQ Knowledge Campus, which includes a suite of workflow videos and process articles designed exclusively for BP.

asset55 has also re-created BP completion documentation that is specific to each operating region within iQ, which is auto populated, reducing the time and error risk associated with manual entry and data transfer.

Available to BP 24/7, asset55’s specialised engineering team also provide expert technical support, giving advice and guidance on mechanical connections that sit outside of GP 42-31.

CTO at asset55, Paul Bicker, concludes:

“We’ve seen major investment across our entire technology stack in the last 18-months, which will continue through 2021, so we take great pride in the continued confidence of our customers in such a safety critical area.”
