Allerton Steel fabricated and installed Battenhall Bridleway Bridge - Worcester.
This 'Through Arch' structure over a dual carriageway in Worcester was fabricated from 660mm diameter tubes for the main arch chords and 508mm diameter tubes with 20mm thick plate for the deck structure. The deck structure was suspended from the arch using 42mm diameter Macalloy hangers.
This bridge project involved a large site assembly and installation package using temporary 'MAT 75' trestles to support the structure during site welding and painting.
The finished bridge, 63m long x 5.0m wide and a total weight of 170 tonnes was installed in a single lift using a 1250te crane. Installation took place during a single 48 hours weekend road closure.
Steel grades: S355J2H and S355J2+N.
Paint system: Highways Type II, with Equestrian mastic asphalt deck surfacing.
Allerton scope of work was for all material supply, fabrication, delivery, site assembly, site welding, paint remedials, installation and deck surfacing.
Operating from modern workshops with over 4500sq/m (50,000sq/ft) capacity. The workshops offer a lift capacity up to 60 tonnes and are equipped with modern plant and machinery including semi-automatic welding, CNC operated profile, saw, drilling and milling machines. Additionally, we have a 3D modelling and surveying system to assist with complex fabrications and inspection.
