AIS Training extends scaffolding training capability to South Wales with new Altrad site
Posted on 05 November 2019

Leading training provider, AIS Training, has opened a new internationally accredited scaffolding training facility in South Wales in conjunction with industrial service provider, Altrad.
The facility, which has been approved by global scaffolding body CISRS, is based within Altrad’s existing site in Pyle. It will deliver CISRS training in high level inspections, supervisor and continuous professional development courses, as well as COTS courses (CISRS Operative Training Scheme) to upskill and improve the competencies of Altrad’s employees in the region.
AIS Training led the project to gain accreditation from scaffolding training body, CISRS, and will be providing all the expert instruction as required. When not being used by Altrad employees, the facility will be opened up to service the training requirements of the South Wales oil and gas and construction markets.
AIS Training is part of the 3T Energy Group and, together with leading training provider, Survivex, is the UK’s largest energy training provider. This new South Wales facility will be the Group’s fourth UK training site as it currently operates two state-of-the-art training centres in Aberdeen and Newcastle and supports skills training in the Grimsby and Humber regions.
Matthew Oates, UK head of workforce development at Altrad Services said: “We deliver a huge amount of scaffolding work in Wales so were keen to have a training centre of excellence locally where we could continuously upskill our personnel to the highest scaffolding standards.
“Thanks to a strong collaborative effort with AIS Training we now have a new onsite training facility, which will make it extremely easy and convenient to raise the skills and competencies of our personnel.”
Paul Knowles, vice president of training at 3T Energy Group, said: “We are pleased to have worked closely with Altrad to open this onsite scaffolding training facility, which will be a fantastic resource for Altrad and other businesses in South Wales.
“As well as delivering training from our own state-of-the-art training centres, we work with clients to deliver bespoke onsite training and this facility is an excellent example of this.
“When not being used by Altrad employees, we intend to open the facility up to service the training requirements of the local market. We are also looking at the possibility of developing a second phase, which will offer additional practical scaffolding qualifications.”
