Applications of AI in offshore wind technology.

Artificial Intelligence (AI) has the potential to transform offshore wind technology by enhancing operational efficiency, increasing energy yield, and reducing maintenance costs in challenging marine environments. A primary application is predictive maintenance, where machine learning algorithms analyze real-time sensor data to detect anomalies and predict component failures. Other examples of applications include: optimising wind farm performance by dynamically controlling turbines in real time to minimise wake interaction effects; accelerating site selection by rapidly analysing metrological and ocean/sea bed data to find optimal high-yield locations; the use of autonomous drones and computer vision to revolutionise offshore site inspections, and; the use of AI-driven digital twins for managing offshore assets throughout their lifecycle. The schedule for the event is currently being planned. It will include expert presentations by organisation from across the wider NE who are actively developing AI technologies for the sector and a panel session to provide a forum for discussions on questions raised by those attending the event.
