Through Outcome Engineering Ltd, I provide independent technical and engineering support to clients operating in high-integrity, high-hazard industries.

Clients include world leading organisations in the offshore oil and gas, offshore renewables, defence and nuclear industries. I bring over 20 years' experience as a design engineer and technical leader delivering major projects across these safety-critical sectors.

I specialise in taking dynamic multivariate problems and generating clear, tangible options, with a focus on identifying and managing risk and developing credible, deliverable solutions.

I typically provide an injection of senior-level capability for objectives that stretch a client's available senior engineering capacity. Even the best organisations are often stretched during periods of rapid growth, diversification, or while exploring innovative approaches to complex problems.

My approach is first to listen to my clients to understand their problem or situation and their desired outcomes. I then develop a simple and clear scope of work outlining suggested next steps and proposing initial milestone deliverables. As the work progresses, the steps can be adjusted, allowing progress to be made while consciously carrying and managing some risk and uncertainty. This approach scales from small, focused studies or designs through to complex operational or programme-level problems, and is flexible to changing priorities and updated information.

Example deliverables can include design appraisal, requirements specifications, FEED studies, bid writing input, operational storyboards, calculations, concept designs, analysis, technology assessments, procurement specifications, manufacture drawings, CAD data and other technical documentation.

I can also fulfil an advisory or appraisal role, with more emphasis on live technical review and challenging assumptions. Where required, I can act as a client-side technical representative, liaising with end users, regulators, third parties, suppliers and other stakeholders. I place a strong emphasis on clear communication, professional judgement and delivering on commitments.
