Inch Cape turbine components arrive in Dundee

Turbine components for ESB and Red Rock Renewables 1100MW Inch Cape offshore wind farm have begun to arrive at the Port of Dundee as the project gears up for turbine installation off the east coast of Scotland.

The first tower sections for the VestasV236-15MW machines began to arrive at the Port of Dundee in early August, with  further shipments arriving almost weekly until late September on six different vessels including Boldwind, Tony Stark and Vestvind.

A total of 576 components will be offloaded at the port including 288 tower sections, 216 blades stacked in sets of three, and 72 nacelles.

The tower sections will be delivered first followed by the nacelles and lastly the blades.

Turbines installation will begin in November, with Cadeler’s Wind Mover jack up taking on the job.

The centre of action for the 1100MW Inch Cape offshore wind farm has shifted to Dundee as first turbine components arrive in port.
