Film-Ocean opens Newcastle office to strengthen support for UK energy clients

Subsea ROV inspection and intervention specialist, Film-Ocean, has opened a new office at the Cobalt Business Exchange near Newcastle. This move marks a significant step in the company’s growth and its commitment to delivering for clients across the offshore energy sector.
The North East of England has emerged as a region of growing importance to the subsea and offshore energy industry, with a strong and expanding talent base in ROV project management and technical support. Establishing a presence in the area gives Film-Ocean direct access to that expertise, adding depth and capacity to its operations as demand for its service continues to grow worldwide.
The new office will operate as an operational and project delivery base, strengthening project oversight, broadening Film-Ocean’s technical support offering and building closer relationships with clients and partners across the region. This ultimately gives Film-Ocean’s clients greater assurance of delivery as the company takes on more work.
Environmental responsibility also informed the choice of location. Film-Ocean builds sustainability into everything it does. Its Aberdeenshire headquarters was designed with energy efficiency at its core, and the company sought a North East base that reflected the same values. Cobalt Business Exchange, set within a 39-acre biodiversity park with wildflower meadows, extensive wildlife habitats and supported by dedicated carbon-reduction and sustainable travel initiatives, met that bar.
Film-Ocean’s Commercial Manager, Sophie Bryce, commented:

Film-Ocean has grown rapidly since the start of 2026, adding several new staff across the business, with further expansion planned for both the Aberdeen and Newcastle teams.
