Wind Turbine Training Facility Launch

The Port of Blyth is to launch its unique, full sized Wind Turbine Training facility, aimed at providing high quality training opportunities to new entrants and existing employees of the renewables industry.

The official opening will be made by Ian Levy MP for Blyth Valley, with presentations to local and regional business leaders and live practical demonstrations of the facility in use.

Trainees from the award winning Offshore Renewable & Subsea Engineering Diploma delivered in partnership between the Port and Newcastle College will be on site experiencing the turbine for the first time.

In a first for the UK wind industry, the bespoke facility is part of a £1m investment in training provision aimed at the offshore energy sector and will shortly be available for hire through the Port’s training division Port Training Services.

The facility features a modified, former operational wind turbine for practical instruction alongside a dedicated training centre with modern classrooms and facilities.
