One of Europe’s leading manufacturers and distributors of Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) and Maintenance Repair and Operational equipment (MRO)- Gibb Group - has this week announced it has successfully secured a significant contract with one of the world’s largest integrated utility companies and a world leader in wind energy, ScottishPower.
Gibb Group – with offices in Great Yarmouth and Aberdeen and part of Clarkson PLC with a global footprint operating out of 20 + Countries – has reported it has secured the contract to supply protective clothing, working at height apparatus and rescue, survival and marine equipment on the East Anglia ONE windfarm.
The contract will also see the Gibb Safety & Survival division take full responsibility for the servicing and management of the PPE which will take place at The Group’s recently opened, state-of-the-art service centre in Great Yarmouth as well as offshore on the East Anglia ONE windfarm itself.
Located 43 kilometres off the coast of Suffolk, the 714MW East Anglia ONE windfarm has been in operation since June 2020 generating enough low carbon renewable energy to power the equivalent of 630,000 homes. The windfarm forms part of the East Anglia Array – a proposed series of up to six individual offshore windfarm projects with a capacity of up to 7.2GW.
Already well underway, the contract is a multi-year agreement and further consolidates Gibb Group’s position as one of the leading PPE specialists in the wind sector. Comprising two divisions; Gibb Safety & Survival and Gibb Tools & Supplies, the former – launched by The Group only 18 months ago – has landed a number of offshore wind contracts and is already on track to exceed predicted turnover by 40%.
Speaking about the contract win, Lee Sparkes, European Sales Manager at Gibb Group said: “We are delighted to have secured this contract and to be supporting ScottishPower Renewables with its PPE requirements for the operation and maintenance of East Anglia ONE. This new contract is one of many recent wins for us in the wind sector and cements our reputation as one of the industry’s leading suppliers of both on and offshore PPE. It is also down to these contract wins that we have been able to create new jobs in the Great Yarmouth area and invest heavily in employing local talent.”
Gibb Group is a leading provider of PPE and MRO equipment and has been supplying to the energy sector for over 70 years. After diversifying its product and service offerings in line with the growth of renewable energy and customer demands the company is now one of the leading PPE specialists in the wind sector.
