The Emergence of Offshore Wind in the USA: Opportunities & Threats

About this Event

The talk will present an overview of the emergence of the offshore wind market in the USA, the influence of the UK and mainland Europe in its evolution, and the rapidly emerging technology and innovation space driving the sector. The webinar will also cover some of the challenges specific to the US offshore wind industry and how the US can help shape the sector in other parts of the world, as a result.

Finally, some of the relationships being forged between DEI and US universities and national labs will be covered.

Alan is DEI’s first Professor in Practice and is a specialist in offshore wind strategic development. He is currently advising the Bristol Community College, New Bedford, Massachusetts on the creation of its National Offshore Wind Institute. He is also an advisor to the National Renewable Lab (NREL) in Boulder, Colorado and has previously been involved in 3 offshore wind sites in the USA, as well as the POWER-US initiative.
