Womble Bond Dickinson (WBD) hosted an event yesterday (2 December) to explore US offshore wind opportunities for North East businesses operating in the energy supply chain. The event was hosted virtually and attracted a wide range of clients and contacts from across the region and further afield.
The session was chaired by Nigel Emmerson, Head of Newcastle at WBD, and featured two of the firm's US offshore wind specialists, Joe Tirone and Lisa Rushton, who provided an overview of the opportunities and challenges associated with the fast-growing US offshore wind market. They also provided an overview of the US regulatory environment There was also a dynamic question and answer session chaired by Richard Cockburn, WBD's energy sector lead with some thought provoking questions and dialogue throughout.
Richard Cockburn, WBD UK Head of Energy, commented:
"At WBD we pride ourselves on our expertise in the energy sector on both sides of the Atlantic. This was a great opportunity to introduce our US colleagues to the local market to share their expertise and bring to life the opportunities available to them in the US. Bringing our international experts to the region to provide insight and knowledge is what we do and this is never more important than now as the North East supply chain seeks to build back better by chasing opportunities around the world. We are pleased to be able to make business connections into the heart of the US offshore wind market using our extensive network of clients and contacts in the US".
